Child Support & Alimony Tips
Generally, upon a divorce, the parties voluntarily
enter into an agreement or the respective court rules
on the terms regarding alimony and/or child
support. As life continues, changes occur
which require a modification of the initial order.
Modifications can include monetary changes in child
support, alimony or child custody. Related to monetary
changes, the court may reduce or terminate alimony
for specific reasons. As an example, if a private
detective agency assigns a private
investigator to confirm that a supportive
relationship exits between the oblige, and a person
with whom the oblige resides, a reduction or termination
of alimony may occur. Based on the preponderance of
the evidence, a private detective will
establish use of a common mailing address, shared finances,
(rent mortgage) surveillance to establish residency,
terms such as “my husband” or “my wife”, or otherwise
conduct themselves in a manner that evidences a permanent
supportive relationship.
If you are paying alimony, and suspect your former spouse
is residing with someone, it is wise to contact a private
detective agency and confer with a private
investigator.
