Sen.
Edward Kennedy Articles and news about Private
Investigators.
The Senate and education committee is requesting the Bush
administration to block student loan companies from accessing
a database which reveals confidential information on millions
of college bound students. In essence, college bound students
prepare an application on the National Student Loan Database
for grants and other financial assistance from the Government
and independent donors. As reported by Senator Edward Kennedy
of Massachusetts, inappropriate searches of the database
violates federal law and could result in identity
theft. Mr. Kennedy urged Education Secretary
Margaret Spellinger, to immediately block access of the
database to private lenders until necessary security measures
can be addressed. Mr. John A. Moschella, President of Investigative
Resources, Inc., reports that individuals frequently contact
a private detective agency to
retain the services of a private investigator to
establish the cause of identity theft. Mr. Moschella states,
that usually it is determined that the cause is a leak
in a national database or loss of a computer containing
critical information.
