Congressman Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania has also been a victim of telephone fraud by means of phone spoofing. In Congressman Murphy’s case, hundreds of calls were made to constituents with derogatory statements regarding Congressman Murphy. Ironically, the calls displayed the telephone number of Congressman Murphy’s office, leading the recipients to believe Congressman Murphy’s office was disseminating bad publicity.
